"Divining the difference between reality and the fantastic may not be as simple as it seems. Because the world you think you know may not actually exist" - Tomi Farrell
The Demon, The hellish Dream Demon of reality locked away in a Nightmare on Elm Street.
The Entity, The true horrific kaiju haunting the cursed films of Godzilla.
Film industry have been taken over by many faces over the years, but there are fewer less influential to the art of film making as a whole then Freddy Krueger and Godzilla, figures of the East and West respectively that have shaped the movie industry as we know it and brought life to the screen every viewing. But every act of life requires an equal act of death and in these two franchises' shady past, they’ve had their fair share. Not in their records necessarily, but the franchises themselves and in the very characters their series is centered around. A past full of brutality and strange entities that have been tormenting the directors of these franchises before the franchises even began. Now being locked in their own franchises, never to see the light of day again, until now.
Can The Demon of Wes Craven’s mind strike the darkest of gods down with fear? Or can The Entity of Ishirō Honda’s trauma give this bastard son what a nightmare really feels like? Turn on the tape and let’s get right in this, but beware, they’re watching your every move and making sure you will never feel alone in this DEATH BATTLE!
Before We Start…
First things first, it should be stated that these two don’t have official names and we won’t be calling them “The Demon” and “The Entity” all blog, for simplicity sake we’re going to be referring to them as “New Nightmare Freddy/Just Freddy” and “Suitmations Godzilla/Just Godzilla” respectively. Although we will be flip flopping on what we call them. We will be equalizing the playing field so that they can both use their power over dreams/films along with their immersion to make it the fairest we possibly can. Another thing to say before we get into the thick of this blog is the fact that there will be mentions of scaling these characters to their movie counterparts, there’s a lot to say regarding that so that’s better saved towards Before The Verdict.
Anyway, media, this is very easy to get across, these two aren’t really the most complicated characters in the world after all. Freddy will be given the film and the official novelization and Godzilla will have the main series of The Suitmation Trials along with other posts by the channel and creator, including the officially worked on Pillar Chase 2 slot for Godzilla. At the time of writing this it still isn’t out however there are certain abilities we know will be used. However, the one thing that won’t be used is the apparently already existing ARG for the series that I can’t find anyone talking about. From what I can tell it doesn’t give too much information at the moment anyhow.
You know the gist at this point, but this blog will contain graphic violence among other dark topics.
Background
New Nightmare Freddy
Freddy Krueger, arguably the most popular horror character of all time. The original film starring our favorite nightmarish killer titled simply A Nightmare On Elm Street in many ways planted the seeds for the foundation of horror to grow from, it and its bombastic killer had everything from a compelling narrative to dark psychological themes present in teens. Going on to spanning 5 more sequels in one of the most popular horror series in history, ending with Freddy Krueger’s death. But like the sequels of the films she played, this wasn’t the end for Heather Langenkamp’s, the actor of Nancy Thompson, encounters with the springwood slasher. After receiving various phone calls from an unknown voice, she started having vivid dreams of Freddy. Not the Freddy portrayed by Robert Englund however, a darker more evil version of the character then the fictional counterpart ever was, “A Demon” that would continue to pursue her for nights to come.
The truth of the matter is, Wes Craven at some point in his life came across a supernatural entity roaming the world of the living through their cognitive brains. This was our demon, a being that’s been wreaking havoc in people’s minds for eras before Wes Craven ever came around. Its goal? Kill as many innocents as it can and stain the world in red. Haunted by this creature and driven by research in how to stop it, Wes Craven was able to discover its ultimate weakness, stories. Storytellers like Craven were able to seal the corrupted essence of this demon in stories and keep it trapped so long as the stories continued, in this case, Wes Craven created the Nightmare series as a way to keep this creature prisoner as the character Freddy Krueger. The Demon adapted to the new character, slowly becoming more like him and adopting traits from his hellish tendencies. But after the films ended and Wes struggled to come up with a script for a new installment in time, the genie was let out of the bottle and The Demon was able to kill again.
Its primary target this time would be Freddy’s primary target in the fictional film series, Nancy Thompson or in the real world, Heather Langenkamp and her husband, Chase, along with her son, Dylan. he Demon proved to be just as sadistic, if not even more so, than his fictional counterpart, taking days on end tormenting Heather by killing those closest to her and traumatizing Dylan to the point where Dylan tried to kill his own mom. Nancy wasn’t the only one affected either, Robert Englund had the same dark dreams about the same Freddy, although his response was to get out of L.A to safety, which was honestly valid. Wes Craven, the man responsible for this mess, tried his hardest to quickly produce a script through his dreams powerful enough to keep The Demon contained. These events in the script though, somehow, directly influenced reality and the line between what is real and what is not became all the more daunting for Heather. Who in the midst of this chaos, just wanted to protect her son.
That’s the main reason why The Demon wants Heather gone, not for her son, but to merge reality and fiction together. You see, The Demon isn’t entirely freed onto reality just yet. To do so, he has to completely remove the boundary between reality and fiction so he can walk among the tangible once more. In the process of this, he convinced the actors of the series that they were the characters they played and even made fictional set pieces real. Heather however, was the piece of the puzzle holding The Demon back from all this. After all, she gave Nancy the strength to beat Freddy Krueger and this Freddy Krueger look alike was no different, she would do anything to get her son back. And get her son back she did! The Demon may have been powerful, but the script itself was going against him and like the Hansel and Gretel witch, The Demon burned to a fiery crisp. For as long as the series remained undisturbed, that is. Which honestly explains why we haven’t seen any mainline Nightmare On Elm Street media since.
You better be prepared if any do, in fact, this very blog being published and you reading these words are strong enough to bring this behemoth to your deepest darkest nightmares, and Y̸̯̦͕̤͛͂͘̕O̷̼̰̍̄͋͝Ư̶̡̻͈̼͘ ̵̨̟͖̖͝W̴̛͚͍̏I̵̳̒͐͘̚ͅL̵̥̆L̴̤̬͖̘̄̈ ̶͙͈̌͑͐͝N̷̡̧̪̰̊È̴̳̣͙̗͠V̵̙͑͂̈́͝E̴̩̗̰̳͛͋͆R̵̞̟̳̦̈̽̈́̇ ̷̳̳̈̿̓͝S̷̨͙̭̀̿̎͆L̷̞̲̫̬̈̓̒̔Ë̵̩͙É̶̡̺P̴̨͓̒̋͋͝ ̷̨̞́̿̈́͝A̴̻̅Ǵ̵̹̳̙̊͐͑Ȧ̵̰̹̩͝Ị̵̆͂N̸͈̺̦̋.̵͖͙̰̜̆̋
Suitmation Trials Godzilla
Godzilla, the most iconic monster ever made. The 1954 film of the same name sparked so much inspiration for what movies were capable of at the time and still holds up today with its practical effects and message of the consequences of nuclear weaponry. Ultimately spanning one of the longest and most iconic franchises of all time that so many have grown up with. Yet, one day, a Godzilla film found something much darker lurking in the old tapes of the series. A creature that might look like Godzilla, but is anything but, an otherworldly entity that would attempt to step outside of the screen and hunt whoever it saw with sadistic glee. A creature with no name except “The Entity” that would reveal the secrets of what really happened and be the God you never wished would come for you.
During a war in the 1937, a regime with none other than an early twenties Ishirō Honda sighted what looked to be a monster that they mistook for a bomber or reinforcements, a huge monster with jagged spikes piercing out of its back like broken bones that roared at them with the ferociousness of a creature that knew what it was doing and took pleasure in it. This was The Entity and no one, not a single higher-up, believed the regime’s story. Honda, so traumatized by The Entity, took it upon himself to create a film nearly 20 years later that tried its hardest to accurately depict the monster, along with designing a film with other undertones of the horrors of Japan at the time. This was the 1954 Godzilla. Somehow in some way, The Entity managed to leak into this film that Honda had created and now, almost in a metaphorical sense, it became Godzilla.
In any case, all this was for The Entity was a way to kill freely without notice. Now as the Godzilla monster on the screen, The Entity was able to control the actor playing Godzilla in the suit in order to do things such as, let’s say, snap the neck of the Anguirus actor with a bite. He did this with other suit actors too in later films, all of which Toho couldn’t for the life of them solve. So they did what every man does with skeletons in their costumes, bury them deep in a forest to where they will never be found. This went on for who knows how long, but the most important part is that, The Entity, is now stuck in the films of Godzilla and can’t get out so easily. Now comes in one particular Godzilla fan that wanted to get back into the series by binging the old films, starting with the original. The Entity would distort his viewing experiences and talk to him directly, making him feel all sorts of discomfort as Godzilla detailed the experience of killing Anguirus, how the screen can’t hold him forever and how he’s still trapped in the woods. Woods meaning the forest where the bodies of actors were buried. And he wasn’t exactly lying at the “screen can’t hold him” part, The Entity managed to come right out of the tape and stalk our character down the forest before killing him with the signature atomic breath.
But that’s just one story with one protagonist, in The Suitmation Trials, there are several main characters. We haven’t seen all of their perspectives just yet and there is still a lot of information that needs discussion, but what we do know at the moment is that Suitmation Trials Godzilla is out of the tape fully and terrorizing the local town. He killed 2 boats full of a total of 26 men and caused the disappearance of a young woman, possessing her and making it so she changed appearance to no longer resemble herself and instead looked more like a suit.
So be warned everytime you boot up that copy of 1954’s Godzilla, something will always be watching you, waiting for the chance to strike and making sure that Ý̷̗̜̦̫͊́̆O̸̟̣̘͕͇͗͠U̶͓͖͓̳̓͊̔̾͜ ̵͍̻̬̻̔͑ͅW̵̯͎̻̚I̴̡̝͉̻̱͆̊͒͝L̴̘̐̀̚Ľ̵̛̖͕̞̦ ̸̥̤͖͉̣̓̊̃̕Ǹ̷̮̭̦͙̣́͑̄͝E̶̛̫̱̠̱͂͋͘͘͜V̶̠̾Ẹ̵̃̋̎́̎R̶̥̪̞̄̓͜ͅ ̸͔̏̈́̈́͝B̶̜̕E̶̡͖̘̽̕ ̷̻̹̤̲̈́S̵̥̝̟̋̆̽̓͝À̸̞̪̰̀͝F̴̳̄̏͝Ȩ̵̛͕̩̰̪͒̊͐̉ ̴̣̣͙̀̄̈́̇Ả̵̭̹̳̪̞̇̀́G̵̻̻͈͉̒À̷̦̺͈̫̜̔́͂͋Í̵̤́̏̀̿N̶̗͉̲̟̦̑.
Skill & Experience
New Nightmare Freddy
No one knows where The Demon comes from, when it originated or even really what it is, all we know is that it’s very old. It existed for eras before the events of the movie and took many forms that storytellers used to temporarily trap it and stop it from killing the innocent. Its most recent of which is none other than Freddy Krueger. It should be noted that The Demon and Freddy are inherently separate, Freddy is merely the representation of The Demon’s evil and is actively confirmed to be a separate entity specific to fiction. Despite this, The Demon has picked up on many tricks the character Freddy Krueger has performed in his series, up to and including the ways he messes with people and his kills. Speaking of which, while we haven’t seen too many done by New Nightmare Freddy, only 4 in fact, we’ve seen him fight and overpower Heather Langenkamp and kill Julie by dragging her up a ceiling like Tina in the original film.
Suitmation Trials Godzilla
Not much is known about what The Entity truly is or why it’s doing what it does beyond sick pleasure but we do know that this is far from the first time it's killed and maimed whatever it saw. It existed before the Godzilla films as a grotesque and jagged kaiju that roamed the wilderness in China before becoming “trapped” as the Godzilla character in the films, not the suit mind you, the actual fictional character beneath the screen. It was first sighted when Ishirō Honda was in his early twenties in 1937 and has been hiding in the Godzilla films up to the point where the original film got colorized. The only known timeframe we have of its existence is the mention of the showa films, with the end of that era being Terror of Mechagodzilla in 1975. Meaning this version of Godzilla is at least 38 years old and has killed in every second of those years. In his killing career, he’s racked up quite an impressive kill count for someone of his nature, killing or possessing 2 known people and causing boats with a crew of 26 to go missing.
Equipment
New Nightmare Freddy
Finger Knife Hand
A spin on the classic Freddy Krueger’s finger knife glove, The Demon’s finger knives opt for a more organic approach. His hand is now more skeleton-like and the blades come right out of his fingertips, the prop used as a reference point for this is enhanced by bio-organic grafting and parts from a live dobermann. But even on the prop, the blades are very much real and can slice through people as if they were butter.
Suitmation Trials Godzilla
Teeth & Claws
Obviously, when you’re a horrific and otherworldly kaiju, there’s little need for actual weapons and in The Entity’s case, he primarily uses his teeth and sharp claws to tear through his victims or snap their neck with a bite.
Abilities
New Nightmare Freddy
Immersion & Immortality
“This time the terror doesn’t stop at the screen.”
For a demonic creature from another world that only seeks to hunt and kill, it is deeply ironic that the main way to contain this Freddy is through story-telling, like a genie in a bottle the essence of The Demon is captured and held prisoner in the story. Which for right now is the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, a film series reportedly outside of our space-time. But now that the movie series is over, he’s able to infiltrate the real world through the dreams of the living. Even after his death, Freddy was able to be resurrected a year later by someone writing a novelization of the script that was being made by Wes Craven through his dreams. Where he was then able to torment the person writing the novel. Meaning that The Demon’s survivability is tied to the Nightmare franchise entirely and any new media will let him back out into the real world.
Reality Warping & Plot Manipulation
Much like his fictional counterpart, Freddy can control your dreams and if you die in the dreams, you will die in real life. However they’re not so much the same Dreamworld as the fictional series, they’re mindscapes or planes which are infinite in size and can be accessed whenever you fall asleep or are knocked unconscious. In any case, in these dreams Freddy can perform damn well whatever he wants and that includes a variety of abilities the following sections will discuss. These dreams aren’t particularly what you would call normal, because under Freddy’s influence these dreams intertwine with reality, which in of itself is divided into what is real and cinematic.
This is exactly how the script for a new Nightmare on Elm Street movie was being made, Wes Craven was dreaming events in his script that then played out in reality one to one how they occurred in his dreams. The script now determines reality and the merging of reality and fiction is what gives The Demon the ability to slash through the invisible membrane separating our world from fiction. And in turn, comes his very presence being able to influence reality and break holes into reality. With this control, he can cause actors to literally become the characters they play in the movie and make fictional set pieces become real. They really were not kidding when they promoted this film as meta.
Gravity Manipulation
To pay respect to one of the best kills in horror history, The Demon can perform gravity defying acts to walk on walls and drag people up until they drop dead. Literally!
Earth Manipulation
Many times over the course of the film we see Freddy creating widespread disaster through the use of earthquakes he's manifested into our dreams, if not reality. These earthquakes range in intensity with each one being described as greater than the last. They can reach up to a magnitude of 5.5 - 6 that can cover all of Los Angeles from Sylmar and stretch as far south as San Diego and as far east as Las Vegas.
Technology Manipulation
For a demon that’s lived inside the worlds of storytellings for centuries, Freddy isn’t what you would call patient. He’s quite eager to start killing and will start messing with the tech around the set by making animatronics act on their own or cause TVs to short circuit and explode.
Madness Manipulation
(Poster of Dylan’s New Nightmare)
He wouldn’t be a Freddy without some creepy children in the mix, and in The Demon’s case, his replacement for the Jump Rope Girls is none other than Heather’s son, Dylan. Who Freddy constantly scares into becoming like him, causing him to attack his mom.
Perception Manipulation
To turn a mild inconvenience into a major one, Freddy can amplify the effect of an itch and make it develop deep inside your body, making you do things such as gouge your own eye out and wake up convinced that you were blind.
Transmutation
For some more nods to the classic scenery of the series, if not a complete copy to it, The Demon in his Freddy form can change the form of certain objects like making phones more fleshy with a tongue and turning stairs into a substance with the consistency of molasses. I think this guy needs some more source material, and or a boost in creativity.
Shapeshifting
Freddy has a strange obsession with manipulating his body in the weirdest of ways in this film, first one on the chopping block being his ability to disguise himself as other people and form himself out of literal clouds.
Size Manipulation
With his shapeshifting, Freddy can form himself out of clouds and appear as a giant looming down over the world beneath him. Ready to swoop down with giant claws to toy with his victims. No idea where he looks like normal Freddy while doing this though.
Elasticity
Even if he can’t get his full body to his victims, he can at least stretch parts of his body to reach you from afar or if he’s feeling freaky, ensnare you with a tongue.
Body Control
To gobble you up, Freddy can horrifically morph his head to stretch his jaws to swallow whole children in a single gulp.
Duplication
As if one wasn’t already too nightmarish, Freddy can randomly duplicate himself up to a thousand times for what is essentially a Freddy army.
Fourth Wall Awareness
Last but certainly not least is what might be the most haunting ability here, he’s shown to be aware of not just reality outside of the Nightmare series, but into our reality too. Speaking directly to the audience outside of the actual New Nightmare movie. Which, in hindsight, probably isn’t the best information to have when writing this and having nightmares.
Suitmation Trials Godzilla
Immersion
“This screen will not contain me forever”
Despite being contained within the films themselves, Godzilla is far from stuck within the cateridges that he haunts. As he puts it, the screen will not contain him forever and he’s been shown to exit the cursed CDs and enter the real world in order to hunt down his prey. Being able to operate in the real world with the same abilities like the Atomic Breath and keep his large size, meaning it's likely that anything he can pull off in the tapes is something he can perform a similar degree to in reality. At least to some extent as he prefers to influence reality through his suits actors and manipulating missing people.
Large Size
If you thought this version of Godzilla was more akin to “Man In The Suit”, think again. He’s just as big as the original Godzilla, standing at an impressive 50 meters tall and uses that to great effect to overpower whoever’s in his way.
Underwater Breathing
Likewise, he retains the classic Godzilla ability of being able to properly swim around in open bodies of water and breath for god knows how long, no pun intended. He seems to actually enjoy water too, as it reminds him of a much more peaceful time in his life, don’t feel too bad though, he still uses his efficiency in water to attack boats and kill people.
Radiation Manipulation
He wouldn’t be a Godzilla without some radiation involved now would he? While we may not have seen the full extent or even how his radiation works, we do know that he emits passive radiation that he can use for next attacks and if it's anything like the original Godzilla, who he exists as in the films, it can infect those around him and even poison wells. Along with being left behind with Godzilla’s every step.
Atomic Breath
It only makes sense that, with radiation, comes the ability to harness it in the form of Godzilla’s most iconic attack, the Atomic Breath. A blast of pure radiation that Suitmations Godzilla is said to have and as said before, can keep when going out into reality. This breath can melt transmission towers and fry people in a single hit, and can reasonably be assumed is as strong as the original Godzilla’s Atomic Breath.
Clairvoyance
“HE IS NEAR”
What can only be scarier than a 50 meter tall monster with murderous intent is the exact same thing this time with the ability to know what you’re feeling and what your intentions are along with where you are and how to catch up.
Immortality
While his designs vastly differ based on appearance, the new design made for Pillar Chase 2 showcases his utter resilience even when greatly injured by having his jaw split in two.
Reality Warping & Plot Manipulation
To be blunt, Godzilla’s relationship with the films he is trapped in is very strange. It’s unknown currently how this entity ended up haunting the films or even the specific and untampered cartridge we see in the Instances, however it's confirmed he was an entity before the makings of the films themselves and is separate from the actual suit. Meaning he isn’t tied to the suit whatsoever and lurks within the films themselves, being able to control the actor of the Godzilla suit to do things such as kill the Anguirus actor, an act that Toho couldn’t solve and needed to bury. This isn’t the only case he’s been shown manipulating his movies however, he’s able to make the films glitch out and focus only on him, show never before seen imagery of dead bodies on the screen, change the events of the films or end the film outright. Given how he’s able to consistently demonstrate his presence across multiple Godzilla films and control over the actors, it's far from a stretch to say that these abilities can affect our reality too.
Pain Manipulation
With his immense control over the films, Godzilla can perform just about anything including manipulating the characters within the films. His very roar was able to cause Anguirus to cry out in pain and glitch out the tape with his screams until all that was left was just Godzilla and the viewer.
Fear & Madness Manipulation
Encountering The Entity will have unparalleled mental damage. It really says a lot that after seeing the Godzilla creature once, Ishirō Honda was so traumatized that he later made the Godzilla films and people even recounting the story of when they saw him have gouged their own eyes out.
Possession
If it wasn’t clear enough, Godzilla in or out of the films has an immense and oddly intoxicating sense of control over really anyone. He’s caused the death of many suit actors like Anguirus by possessing the actor of the Godzilla suit and commanding him to do so, something he’s been consistently shown to do. Outside of just suits however, Godzilla is apparently able to possess his missing victims and completely change their appearance to that of another person and resembling a suit.
Fourth Wall Awareness
The scariest part of it all, Godzilla’s awareness doesn’t just extend outside of the screen but also lets him speak directly to us, yes, we the viewers watching the series. Which he has, and I don’t want to alarm you, been doing the entirety of you reading this blog. This isn’t a joke ṕ̸̭l̴̳̥̈́̋̕ͅḙ̴̢̺͔͕̑̆͗́͜͝a̴̬̜̐͒̇́͐s̴̡̘̬̤̐ȩ̶̢̯̠̞̓͑̽̉h̶͇̼͊͛e̴̱̦̖͍̘͒̓̂̏ļ̶̮͓͂̓̉͘p̵̡̨̥̗̲͋̾͒̌s̶̺͍̕t̶̨͎̦̩̗̮̚ò̸̙̰͛̿͠͠p̷̯̙͎͙̲̈͜h̴͙͕̬̀ǐ̷̯̦͒͜͝͝m̵̹̬̜͙͍͌̌̐̀͆̈J̴̞̚Ǘ̵̯̙S̴̡̧͔̬̙̿̋͛̇̔T̶̗͔̱̼̽̈́̈̕ͅR̸͕̲̫̺̀U̷̫͇͕͚̦͋͂͐Ņ̸̼̠̘̭̈́͜.̸̟̹̪̩̇͋̈̎

Weaknesses
New Nightmare Freddy
For all of his power and presence as the real life Freddy Krueger, The Demon is not invincible in the slightest. He’s quite a sadistic bastard and takes his sweet time with prey, littiling their mental state down to a point where they’re easy to pick off, meaning he never really goes for the kill right away. This type of arrogance is how he gets trapped as fictional characters like Freddy in the first place, that and his essence is prone to being sealed within stories of people for years and is unable to do really anything in that time to fight back until the story is completely done. His dream powers aren’t perfect either, he can only use one of his abilities at a time and can’t multitask as the potency of these abilities are weakened when manifested at the same time.
Suitmation Trials Godzilla
While there may not be any clear cut way to get rid of The Entity at this moment, we do know that he isn’t invincible and his abilities do have flaws. He requires heavy amounts of radiation to perform some of his abilities, which isn’t favorable considering he only has a limited amount of radiation and it takes time to recharge that power. Secondly, he is truthful in the fact that the screen won’t hold him forever but it is still clear that he’s somewhat trapped within it and cannot get out so easily.
Before The Verdict…
Original Series Scaling For Both
Due to both’s nature, the idea of them scaling to the fictional versions of the characters is a very important part of the debate. It may sound silly at first but you do have to remember that New Nightmare Freddy was specifically trapped as Freddy in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and Suitmations Godzilla is straight up Godzilla out of the tape, he’s just as big as the original and keeps many of the same abilities of the original while showing similar feats. We didn’t want to make this blog just normal Freddy and Godzilla stats because, well, that kind of defeats the purpose but at the same time it’s not something you can just ignore. The compromise we had in mind all comes down to who showcases what, because giving either an ability that the fictional character of Freddy or Godzilla does that they themselves haven’t shown to be able to do is downright silly.
For New Nightmare Freddy, his relationship with “being” Freddy Krueger is a bit odd. He was trapped as Freddy for the entirety of the movie series, but there is a fine line that has been called out that New Nightmare Freddy and classic Freddy are separate. The fictional Freddy Krueger represents the evil of The Demon, essentially acting as a vessel for him to be sealed in. So yes, they are inherently separate entities that exist independently. But isn’t the whole climax of New Nightmare fiction coming to life? For the most part yes, actors are convinced they are fictional characters and fictional set pieces do come to life. But notice how actors think they’re their characters, Robert Englund is very noticeably missing and is called out by Heather to play Freddy Krueger. With John, or Donald Thompson, saying that Freddy, the fictional character is dead. Confirming the fact that the character Freddy Krueger had nothing to do with it beyond The Demon kind of just looking like him currently. This and the fact that… we never see The Demon perform any sort of abilities like the original Freddy besides replicating some scenes. We can’t simply give The Demon abilities and feats from a separate fictional entity that he’s never been shown to use or do himself.
For Suitmation Trials Godzilla, it is made abundantly clear that he has both the size of the original Godzilla, that being 50 meters, and keeps the atomic breath. Omegajira, the creator, has directly confirmed that Godzilla is a large-scale threat similar to his original counterpart. So yeah, he is not just a suit sized. This littles down options for scaling, we’ve only seen him exist in films like the original Godzilla and Raids Again, although the latter is only the first half of that movie. It is implied that The Entity’s presence in the tapes extend to later Showa era films like Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster, however it is once again stated by Omegajira that The Entity would get his shit rocked by Showa Godzilla so we can’t really give him any of his feats.
This leaves just the 1954 film and parts of Godzilla Raids Again, we aren’t necessarily giving him everything from the franchise between these two points though. Just what we’ve seen Suitmation Trials Godzilla do, which includes the speed and KE of the original Godzilla, feats we’ve also seen exist in The Suitmation Trials and most importantly, the feat where Godzilla’s atomic breath boiled part of the ocean. The latter of which is his best feat and changes the verdict significantly if bought or not, we think it is completely fine off of the basis that The Entity is clearly intended to be a kaiju akin to the original Godzilla and a large scale threat because of it as well as showcasing the atomic breath completely on his own. Other feats we simply don’t have enough information to give to The Entity, which does kill a lot of potential arguments for Suitmation Trials Godzilla.

Stats
For characters you’d more than likely expect to be borderline featless, these two have quite a bit to talk about when it comes to stats. While they certainly are not the main debate for today, they are factors that can make or break who comes out on top. As per usual, we’ll start with strength and durability and make our way down to speed.
Starting off, Freddy is easily able to toss around and overpower Heather, who can survive cars on a freeway hitting her, can snap necks with the slightest of taps, manifest whole houses into existence, cause massive explosions upon his death and of course, create several earthquakes that range in power and increase as the story continues. These earthquakes all shook Los Angeles starting at Sylmar and reaching as far south as San Diego and as far east as Las Vegas. The first was a magnitude 5.5, which when using the amount of ground covered gives us the high end of 12 Megatons of TNT. Another earthquake was a magnitude 6, increasing the high end to 70 Megatons of TNT. Finally, the last end uses the real life equivalent of the earthquakes, that being the Northridge Quake which is a magnitude 6.7, ending us with a result of 791 Megatons of TNT. The 6.7 earthquake is a bit dubious in all fairness, since it's never directly been referred to as a magnitude 6.7. However, with the fact that Wes Craven actively used the real life quake footage for the film, acknowledged the quake and joked it was because of Freddy and the earthquakes getting stronger in magnitude everytime, we think this is a fine high end.
As for Godzilla, obviously someone of his size is going to have impressive feats. In fact, his very size and movement already gives him a kinetic energy of 1.17 Tons of TNT, but that’s far from it. He’s possessed people and gave them the strength of snapping people's necks, used his Atomic Breath to kill others and in the series we do see him in the films perform feats such as surviving explosions caused by him walking into power lines worth 1.19 Tons of TNT and melting transmission towers with a force equal to 23 Tons of TNT. Speaking of using his Atomic Breath, because everything about him is consistent to the original film version of Godzilla and we know he keeps his Atomic Breath, we’ve ruled its totally reasonable to scale him to feats the Atomic Breath can perform in the 1954 movie and Godzilla Raids Again. Which includes boiling portions of the Pacific Ocean with his Atomic Breath, a power of up to 59.7 Gigatons of TNT. Which he was in the epicenter of and uses his radiation power for, so it does scale physically.
When it comes to power, Godzilla had Freddy beat. While Freddy was consistently City level to maybe even mountain at the absolute highest end, Godzilla’s Atomic Breath scaling to the original granted him strength and durability that was at least 75x more powerful. And that’s giving Freddy the benefit of the doubt, otherwise he’d be 846x weaker. Strength and durability go to Godzilla.
Both admittedly didn’t really have much when it came to speed, Freddy could move as a blur but that was across a short distance and only got 3.37 m/s and he massively upscales Dylan who can move like a cobra, which has a top speed of 5.36 m/s. Godzilla meanwhile had basically none to his name except the fact that, because he’s huge, he can walk at a speed of 3.7 m/s and swing his tail at 22.3 m/s. These differences aren’t exactly going to come into favor for either of them. Although there was something to consider, as a giant, Freddy gets his own movement speed, this time much higher. He can reach his hand down from the clouds onto ground level as a giant, a feat which on average should be near Mach 1.4. With the absolute lowest possible height for clouds of these types giving him a speed of 304.8 m/s. So, as a giant Freddy has a very big advantage when it comes to speed, up to 22x in fact.
Arsenal & Abilities
Like most matchups of this nature, by far the most crucial part of this debate hinges on abilities and how they interact. This matchup in particular heavily depends on the scenario of where they’re fighting and how you interpret the abilities of both in these settings, we’ll mostly be looking at how they fare at 3 main confrontations, the Real world, the Dreamworld and their Fictional media. First we’re just going to discuss how their powers bounce off of one another on a baseline level.
Freddy’s reality warping gives him a notable edge in versatility compared to Godzilla, many of which, while not outright options that could kill Godzilla, can certainly slow him down. Gravity manipulation and earthquakes were good ways to control the battlefield outright and make the kaiju lose his steadiness, perception manipulation made it so that Freddy could give or amplify any feeling to Godzilla like a irresistible itch that buries itself deeper into your body the more you try to itch it and duplication making things all the more difficult for Goji here. Freddy can split into thousands of versions of himself all presumably with the same powers he has, for the cherry on top is his transmutation. Something Godzilla’s never been shown to resist, however, it should be pointed out that Freddy has never used this as a means of offense, he’s only ever altered objects like phones and stairs. It is somewhat likely he can, but he’s never shown to be able to, which makes it questionable.
When it comes to Godzilla, the main thing to point out is LOOK at him. This is a 50 meter tall kaiju that’s far tougher than Freddy’s potential destructive capabilities and with an absolute insane pain tolerance, he’s already pretty deformed but appearances of this Godzilla has shown he’s able to operate just fine with a massive portion of his jaw ripped open. Freddy’ll have to do a hell of a lot of damage to the guy if he intends to kill him directly. Besides his survivability, Suitmation Godzilla’s Atomic Breath gave him greater range and AOE. It also offered a means of fighting back against Freddy’s duplication. A thousand versions of yourself is cool, but an AOE attack that’s 75x stronger than you at the bare minimum is going to tear the horde of Freddys to shreds. Godzilla’s biggest trump card that Freddy simply had no tools to resist is his possession, he’s been shown to do it to both his actors and missing victims, the former of which he performs while being in fiction. Speaking of which, now that most of their side and some of their main abilities are out of the way, we’re going to get straight into their Immersion, Reality Warping and Plot Manipulation as well as the different scenarios mentioned prior.
Starting off with the Dreamworld, it should be made clear that the Dreamworld in New Nightmare is nothing like the one in the original series. It's purely a mindscape used by Freddy to infiltrate the real world and merge reality and fiction together until he’s able to enter reality for real. Godzilla’s mental presence has been noted before but he can possess people and alter their body to be more suit-like as well as when he was shown to mentally disturb the protagonist in The Incidents and make eyes appear in his vision as well as his madness manipulation being activated by just thinking about your first encounter with him. Even with all that in mind though, Godzilla is pretty obviously outmatched when it comes to a fight in the mindscape. His reality warping can likely still function but Freddy’s own can manipulate what is real or cinematic, break holes into reality and literally make fictional characters and set pieces real. That kind of surreal reality warping is way out of Godzilla’s league. But luckily for him, he doesn’t really have to take this fight here. Godzilla’s immersion allows him to freely go in and out of fictional media whenever and it’s shown that his mental abilities like possession he can perform with the safety of being in fiction. Freddy’s advantage here is pretty easily avoidable.
Moving onto the fictional world, both immersion are naturally important things to consider. Freddy’s immersion is nothing to scoff at, he’s been able to adapt to fit the characters he is trapped as and escape into our world through dreams, and at his peak he can become a very real entity. However, the main drawback of it all is time. It takes years to potentially whole eras for Freddy to exit his media, meanwhile Godzilla can freely leave whenever into the real world without any of the preparation Freddy needed and influence the mind while still being in his media. Freddy’s basically forced to take the fight to him if he wants a legitimate way to win, and unfortunately that’s just not a good idea. Both have some really crazy plot manipulation, Freddy was able to influence events happening in reality through a script Wes Craven was dreaming up and he can merge fiction with reality outright. Godzilla’s however can use pain manipulation to cause Freddy to scream out in pain so much that he glitches to death, change events in the script and film, create his own imagery and text boxes, or end events and the film.
Freddy is specifically vulnerable to plot attacks like these, he is notoriously defeated by having his essence sealed within a story, it's also been shown that he has to obey the plot's rules. For example, Heather was written not only by Wes Craven’s script to do so but as the one who gave Nancy the strength to beat Freddy, she was able to use her strength to beat The Demon. Although he’s able to create his own script that then manifests into reality, it's consistently shown he must obey the script no matter what. Godzilla meanwhile, can directly alter events in the script, end the script altogether and toy with life forms such as Angurius in the plot by bringing him back to life again to be tortured and make an example for the viewer, meaning yes Godzilla can basically do this.
But what about Freddy’s narrative immortality? That resisted having the script end, so wouldn’t that be something that Godzilla can’t outright prevent? A good question and a pretty debatable one, however you have to remember that he was only able to come back because the plot of the story of the script continued. Godzilla stopping the plot will be able to nullify it, it mostly depends on how the author of whatever new Nightmare on Elm Street project tackles it. But it doesn’t exactly matter, not only does it depend on how long an author writes a new script, which took a year in the story. But Godzilla’s possession can easily affect the author and just stop the script from being revived, either through controlling the person or making them kill themselves. Both of which are things that Godzilla’s mental presence has been shown to do. His clairvoyance helps greatly in this case, since it's able to cue him in on whatever the viewer is feeling or where they are.
The real kicker with this though is that Godzilla can affect the author with these things while being safe inside his film series. Or if he really feels like it, he could just exit the fight to where the author is and kill him. That kind of flexibility of being able to move between fiction and reality so easily is what really screws Freddy over. He has to go to confront Godzilla in his own territory not vice versa, which with the previously mentioned plot manipulation not working in Freddy’s favor, is pretty much a death wish. The final nail in the coffin is the fact that Godzilla doesn’t just exist in one piece of fictional media, he exists in several, from personally owned tapes that have only now been recently cursed to trailers on colorized versions of the original film he can thrive in.
When it comes down to it, Godzilla’s superior immersion and plot manipulation gave him the much better flexibility, battlefield control and counters needed to bypass Freddy’s immortality and reality warping until he’s able to land the killing blow he needed.
Tertiary Factors
Although certainly old monsters, they both weren’t really chalk full of showcases of skill and experience. We don’t know the full extent they’ve been killing or how long, we just know a general gap of their age which is all we can compare for the moment really. Freddy is eras old and makes his whole existence killing the innocent, with his on screen kill count being 4. Godzilla is an otherworldly entity that was first sighted by Ishirō Honda and has been around for the last 38 years, with mentions of its existence being even older. Its total alleged kill count is closer to 27 direct kills. This isn’t really important for the debate but experience is a definite advantage for Freddy at the moment.
Weaknesses was an interesting topic, Godzilla didn’t really have any super exploitable weaknesses that Freddy could use to his advantage. Conversely, Freddy had a pretty major weakness in that he could only use one of his abilities at a time and couldn’t multitask them at once. Meaning that he’ll pretty much always be on the backfoot and his abilities would give out in the long run when placed against Godzilla’s abilities, which have no such limitation.
Conclusion
New Nightmare Freddy
“1, 2… FREDDY’S COMIN’ FOR YOU.”
Advantages:
Far faster as a giant.
Older and more experienced.
Reality Warping through Dreamworld was overall more varied and potent.
Reality breaking and fiction merging were far above anything Godzilla’s been shown to do.
Wide pool of abilities gave him plenty of options for keeping Godzilla at bay, such as perception manipulation and duplication.
Transmutation was a potential way to kill Godzilla regardless of his durability.
Fire ass fit.
Aura farmer.
Disadvantages:
Much weaker and less durable.
Lacked exact ways to kill Godzilla outright.
Immortality could realistically be countered and took time to pull off.
Limited in how he can use his abilities.
Specifically weak to plot manipulation and more limited in how he can interact with reality and dreams.
Suitmation Trials Godzilla
“They’re all still out there, in the cold. They deserved it, after all. You are still in the woods, do not forget that.”
Advantages:
Much stronger and more durable, only heightened by his pain tolerance.
Greater range and AOE attacks via Atomic Breath and his size.
Far less limited in his ability to leave his fictional media, making going to reality and back very easy.
Able to freely interact with the mindscape from his media.
Greater control over the plot, being able to nullify many of Freddy’s abilities such as his immortality because of this.
Existence across multiple Godzilla media gave him mobility Freddy couldn’t keep up with.
Possession was a guaranteed way to end the fight no matter what.
Creator has the coolest Godzilla figure collection ever.
Aura farmer.
Disadvantages:
Slower with kaiju Freddy in mind.
Younger and less experienced.
Worse reality warping, with no showing of controlling the reality in the real world.
Less varied abilities overall.
In conclusion, this is an absolutely fascinating debate with a ton of different eyes it could go and a ton of factors that could easily decide the verdict at any moment. Freddy was insanely impressive in the Dreamworld, his reality warping being able to break holes in reality and merge reality and fiction by making fictional characters and settings real were leagues above what Godzilla’s reality warping was capable of. On the flipside, or fiction side more accurately, Godzilla in the fictional world had much greater plot manipulation and could target Freddy’s weakness to being trapped in stories and needing to obey stories through a variety of means. The only difference is that Godzila could mess with the mindscape through possession and madness manipulation whilst in fiction, meaning Freddy had to fight in his turf in order to kill him. Combine this with Godzilla’s ability to freely leave his fiction and into reality whenever he wanted, he had far more mobility and free range to take the fight wherever.
In a direct confrontation, Godzilla had a massive lead when it came to power and toughness as well as an AOE ranged attack that would have no problem cleaning up Freddy whenever it was needed. That wasn’t his only option for killing Freddy however, he could just as easily give him pain strong enough to glitch him to death or possess him. Both of which he had no counter for. Freddy’s only direct way to kill Godzilla was through transmutation, but since we’ve only seen it affecting the material of objects, saying that this an automatic wincon against a 50 meter tall kaiju when it hasn’t ever been used against a person is a bit of stretch. Other than this, he would have to slowly little Godzilla down and keep him at bay with his battlefield control abilities like gravity and earth manipulation, but given Godzilla’s insane pain tolerance, it’s unlikely this would be able to work before Godzilla eventually got the killing blow he needed. Speaking of killing Freddy, Godzilla’s plot manipulation and haunting array of abilities perfectly suited for hunting the author would have no trouble taking care of Freddy’s immortality to make sure he’s dead for good.
There are very different scenarios you could take and interpret this matchup in, but ultimately Godzilla’s immersion and existence across several films gives him the flexibility he needs to counteract Freddy’s immortality and exploit his weakness to plot manipulation until he’s vulnerable enough to be killed through any of Godzilla’s win con, whether it be possession, pain manipulation or the plot manipulation itself.
The Demon of Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street may have shown The Entity of Ishirō Honda’s Godzilla one hell of a nightmare, The Entity’s power, survivability, immersion and utter plot dominance all suited its chances of putting this Freddy on trial till he never woke again.
The Winner Is The Entity.
